Recreational Fire Permit 

All property owners or tenants, interested in having a recreational fire in East Gwillimbury are required to purchase a Recreational Fire Permit. Permits cost $43.70 per property and are valid for the calendar year. The Town’s Burning By-law 2002-20 does not apply to fires contained in fixed or portable barbecues used for cooking food. 

Tenants must have approval from the property owner to purchase a recreational fire permit. The property owner may provide their approval by email or letter.

Recreational fire permit process:

1. Review the Fire Burning Permits page and By-law 2002-20.
2. Complete the online Recreational Fire Permit form and payment.
3. Customer Service will email a copy of your completed Recreational Fire Permit within two business days.
4. Call the permit activation line at (905) 478-3885 to activate your permit. The recording will ask you for your permit number, name, address, and telephone number. The answering system is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Each day you wish to burn you must phone (905) 478-3885 to activate your fire permit. Permits may only be activated between 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. the following day.
